Hi, I’m Matt, a guitar teacher based in Exeter. I work teaching a mix of private students and in schools across Devon.

About me:

Over the years, I’ve performed in a range of venues such as The Great Hall, The Phoenix, and Sidmouth Folk Festival. I currently play guitar in the folk band Mad Robin.

As a teacher, I am calm and encouraging, and make lessons fun as well as focused. I tailor lessons to each student and develop student creativity alongside practical theory.

FAQ’s:

Yes, often my students start from scratch. I make sure beginners are comfortable and build confidence with each lesson.
All ages are welcome. I regularly teach children including as young as 5, up to adults of all ages.
I’m happy to provide a guitar during lessons if that suits.
Lessons are typically weekly, which gives the best progress. However, I can also offer more flexible or occasional lessons.
Yes, I am able to travel around the Exeter area for lessons. A small travel fee applies, typically £5.
Each lesson typically focuses on learning a new song and recapping old material. Developing technique and theory in simple and practical ways as we go.
I ask for payment in advance of lessons, preferably by bank transfer.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, I’m happy to be flexible with notice given.
However, cancellations on the same day will incur the full lesson payment.
